Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Communication and Informatics Ministry said the media center established for the recently concluded 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, had optimally supported journalists covering the event.

Director General of Information and Public Communication at the ministry Usman Kansong said journalists assigned to cover the event responded positively to facilities at the media center.

"Some foreign and domestic journalists said the media services at the media center are good. President Jokowi (Joko Widodo) was also impressed with the media center during his visit there ahead of the summit," Kansong told ANTARA on Monday.

As many as 448 journalists from national and foreign media outlets registered for the summit, which was organized under Indonesia's ASEAN chairmanship, he noted.

The ministry also provided several facilities to journalists at the media center, such as the asean2023.id website for cloud storage, computers, an Internet connection, mini studios, and media booths.

Host broadcasters and host photographers were made available to provide materials to national and foreign media during the summit, and plasma televisions installed at the media center showed live broadcasts and information relevant to the summit.

"When the President asked a journalist about Internet connection (during his visit), the journalist answered the Internet connection at the media center is good," Kansong added.

However, the director general noted that several aspects will need to be improved when the 43rd ASEAN Summit takes place in Jakarta in September.

One of those aspects will be the speed of press and photo release issuance for journalists, he said.

"What we need to improve is the speed to issue news materials in the form of text, videos, and photographs for journalists at the media center," he added.
