Jakarta (ANTARA) - Seventy-one media outlets of domestic as well as foreign origin have registered for covering the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), according to the Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kemenkominfo).

"As of today at 10 (a.m.) Western Indonesian Time (WIB), 71 outlets have registered," Director General of Public Information and Communication at Kemenkominfo, Usman Kansong, said when contacted by ANTARA on Thursday.

With Indonesia chairing ASEAN this year, Kemenkominfo has been put in charge of coordinating public communication as well as organizing the registration of media outlets for coverage of the ASEAN Summit.

The registration period has begun and will be on until April 26, 2023.

Interested outlets can view the terms and conditions and register on the official website asean2023.id by clicking on the "media registration" section.

The media outlets that have registered will be re-verified before they are granted a permit to directly cover the summit, which will take place from May 9–11.

According to the media registration guideline, verified media crews will be provided a designated media center at Bintang Flores Hotel, which will operate from May 6–12.

On May 6–8, the media center will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA), and on May 9-12, it will operate from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

In addition to functioning as a working space, the media center will serve as a press conference room and an information hub that will keep journalists updated on the schedule of activities during the ASEAN Summit.

Earlier, the ministry had revealed that it will provide telecommunications infrastructure by ensuring the readiness of both 4G and 5G network connectivity in Labuan Bajo (NTT).

As many as 1,635 4G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) have been provided to cover up to 78.12 percent of Labuan Bajo’s area.

Meanwhile, 4G connectivity coverage has reached 94.51 percent in residential areas, and some spots have even been provided three 5G BTS.

Additionally, Telkom Group has participated in network strengthening efforts by providing BTS Combat, which will help optimize communication services during the summit.
