Jakarta (ANTARA) - Personnel from the National Defense Forces (TNI), United States Marine Corps (USMC), and Australian Defence Force (ADF) are undergoing joint disaster mitigation training at ADF's headquarters at Robertson Barracks, Darwin, Australia, from May 15–27, 2023.

The training is a continuation of the Trilateral Crocodile Response 2023 exercise that was held last week (May 10–12) at the National Disaster Mitigation Agency's (BNPB's) Education and Training Center (Pusdiklat) in Sentul, West Java.

Deputy head of TNI's delegations, Lieutenant Colonel Deden Kurniawan, in an official statement released on Tuesday, said that TNI soldiers will undergo the training activities with professionalism and enthusiasm.

The Crocodile Response Exercise is a trilateral training held annually by the armed forces of Indonesia, the United States, and Australia to strengthen cooperation in disaster mitigation and humanitarian operations.

This year's joint training has been divided into three stages: an academic session at BNPB's Pusdiklat, which was held last week, and a Command Post Exercise (CPX) and Field Training Exercise (FTX) in Australia until May 27.

Commanding Officer of ADF's Northern Command Captain Mitchell Livingstone said in Darwin on Monday (May 15) that the training is an important agenda to strengthen cooperation between the three countries in mitigating disasters and make it more effective.

Throughout the training, participants will hone their combined disaster relief delivery skills through a series of training scenarios, including medical action, building reconstruction, and proper water sanitation for consumption.

Commanding Officer of Marine Rotational Force - Darwin 2023 Colonel Brendan Sullivan said that disaster mitigation requires building the capability to coordinate, cooperate, and high interoperability.

The Crocodile Response Training is expected to help everyone establish a solid bond, develop trust, and improve their collective capability, he added.

Together, the three forces will execute training scenarios that have been designed to resemble reality and which will require participants to surpass their limits, test their critical thinking, and handle every problem, he said.
