Jakarta (ANTARA) - The post-COVID-19 economic recovery is progressing uniformly in several regions across Indonesia, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has said.

"Our economic recovery began in 2022 and continued to the first quarter of 2023. It also showed that (the recovery) occurs evenly in various regions," Indrawati stated during a meeting with Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) here on Monday.

Regions outside Java Island, such as Sumatra and Kalimantan, have also shown an economic recovery trend, she added.

Regions in Sumatra Island collectively recorded 4.7 percent economic growth in 2022 and 4.8 percent growth in the first quarter of 2023.

Meanwhile, Kalimantan recorded 4.9 percent economic growth in 2022 and 5.8 percent growth in Q1 2023, the minister added.

Indrawati said that the growth record evokes optimism that Indonesia's economic recovery and development are not solely concentrated in Java, which contributed 57.2 percent of national growth, but also in other regions.

"Despite the contributions being smaller (than Java), economic growth (in other regions) also showed a trend of recovery," the minister noted.

She informed that after Java, Sumatra contributed 21.8 percent to national economic growth, Kalimantan contributed 9 percent, Sulawesi 6.9 percent, Bali and Nusa Tenggara 2.7 percent, and Maluku and Papua 2.5 percent.

Fiscal policies accelerated post-COVID-19 economic recovery and promoted economic equity across Indonesia, Indrawati explained.

Law No. 1 of 2022 on Financial Relations between Central Government and Regional Governments would also bolster the effectiveness of fiscal policies in development, she pointed out.

Indrawati also affirmed that her ministry will optimize potential sources of economic growth in the future.
