Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo concluded his working visit to Malaysia by meeting with Malaysian King Sultan Abdullah in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday afternoon.

According to a statement received here, the president and First Lady Iriana were welcomed by the king and Queen Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah upon arrival in Malaysia's royal palace, Istana Negara, at 3:35 p.m. local time.

After a photograph session, the president signed the royal palace's guestbook. Jokowi and Iriana then participated in another photo session with the royal family.

Later, the president and the Malaysian king held a closed-door meeting for one hour before departing the palace for Kuala Lumpur International Airport and his return to Indonesia.

Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir, Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Hermono, and other embassy officials sent off the president and the first lady at the airport.

The president and the first lady later arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Airfield here on Thursday evening.

Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Jayakarta Regional Military Commander Major General Mohamad Hasan, Greater Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto, Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono, and other officials welcomed the president entourage.

President Jokowi's visit to Malaysia follows Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's visit to Indonesia on January 9, 2023.

The president and the prime minister held a bilateral meeting during the visit.

Moreover, various memoranda of understanding were created as a follow-up to the Malaysian PM's January visit, and exchanged between officials from the two countries.

After the bilateral meeting, Jokowi asked Ibrahim to take him along to Chow Kit Road Market in Kuala Lumpur, where they were enthusiastically welcomed by merchants and local residents, as well as Indonesians in Malaysia.
