Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah has sent off 21 nurses to work in Singapore in the first formal sector nurse placement under a private-to-private (P-to-P) scheme.

"I advise the nurses that the opportunity to work in Singapore is an experience that provides many benefits, not only for earning an adequate income but also for gaining skills, knowledge, work ethics, and experience in a multi-country team," she said on Tuesday.

According to Fauziyah, nurses are in high demand globally, and many countries need more nurses from abroad to fill vacant posts.

However, the high demand for nurses has also led to competition, and nurses must be really competent to compete in the job market, she added.

"For this reason, I remind the nurses to improve themselves, which will support their work and fill open job opportunities," she said.

She asked the nurses to work diligently as healthcare assistants (HCAs) in Singapore.

They are also expected to take the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) exam so that they can rise to higher positions, namely those of enrolled nurses (ENs) and registered nurses (RNs).

The minister expressed hope that the first batch of Indonesian nurses placed in Singapore will work as well as possible and adapt to the work environment to make a positive impression.

"So please, continue to follow this selection process, adapt to the job and work environment, and prove that Indonesian nurses are capable and skilled," she said.

Fauziyah also advised them to communicate their problems effectively and follow the standard problem-resolution procedure.

"The Indonesian representative in Singapore will always open their door to help. Don't forget to report yourself and save the address and contact number of the Indonesian representative," she said.

A total of 113 nurses under PT Binawan will be placed in Singapore under the P-to-P scheme.
