The toll road is projected to serve as a linking path to Kertajati Airport, which is one of the national strategic projects (PSNs) whose construction work had concluded.
"We inspected the Cisumdawu Toll Road with Mr Governor (of West Java) Ridwan Kamil and Mr District Head (of Sumedang) Dony Ahmad Munir. The toll road stretches smoothly to Sumedang. It is safe and comfortable," Minister Hartarto remarked in Sumedang.
The toll road will span 61.75 km across Cileunyi and Dawuan and will be the main access to Kertajati Airport in Majalengka District, West Java.
The construction process of the toll road is almost complete, and the road is targeted to become operational in early July.
The governor affirmed that the Cisumdawu Toll Road would contribute to the province's economic growth in future. Kamil expressed hope that the toll road would help his government achieve the economic growth target of above six percent this year.
"I hope that all (construction of) PSNs in West Java will run smoothly because every growth in West Java contributes to the national growth," he emphasized.
The Cisumdawu Toll Road is one of the PSNs in West Java. Geofoam Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) technology is being applied in the construction process of the toll road.
Owing to its light weight, the technology is believed to be more useful than conventional methods in reducing the risk of landslides if it is applied to watery and unstable soil layers.
Apart from the toll road, West Java is also home to several other PSNs, such as the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR), Kertajati Airport, the construction of seven dams, development of the Campus of Bandung Institute of Technology in Cirebon, and the construction of Patimban Port.
