In her statement on Friday, Fauziyah expects that the 100 migrant workers can be a positive example for domestic sector workers, thereby drawing the interest of job seekers in Indonesia to work in Saudi Arabia through the SPSK Program.
"If you show an extraordinary performance, it means that you became a fighter for the next migrant workers. This means that all of you open the road for the next placement," she remarked.
Under the first stage, domestic sector migrant workers will work in Saudi Arabia. Some 31 Indonesian migrant workers are planned to depart for Saudi Arabia on June 25, 2023.
SPSK is a migrant worker placement mechanism facilitated by the digital platform and integrated between the manpower system owned by the Indonesian government and manpower system owned by the Saudi Arabian government, the minister elaborated.
The bilateral cooperation concerning the SPSK pilot project technical regulation for PMI's limited placement to Saudi Arabia was signed on August 11, 2022.
The minister called on Indonesian Migrant Workers Placement Companies (P3MIs) to not send off migrant workers without certified skills.
"This is because the certified skills creation process is the same as giving protection to migrant workers and realizing quality migrant workers with capabilities," she affirmed.
The minister also thanked all stakeholders, who have supported the implementation of SPSK, as agreed upon bilaterally between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
This appreciation was also extended to P3MIs, who have facilitated migrant worker candidates within the placement process to Saudi Arabia.
The minister expects that the 48 P3MIs that had been appointed as migrant workers' placement and protection organizers in Saudi Arabia through SPSK can immediately execute the placement process.
"This is SPSK's first project. We have six months, and after that, we will evaluate," Fauziyah noted while also commending the hard work of the Workforce Placement and Work Opportunity Expansion Guidance Directorate General in integrating this SPSK.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Association of Labor Service Companies (Apjati) Ayub Umar Basalamah welcomed the opening of migrant workers' placement to Saudi Arabia under the SPSK scheme after the placement to Saudi Arabia was closed since 2011.
"This can certainly lift Indonesian migrant workers' spirit to work better with honesty and showcase the image of Indonesian workers to the Saudi Arabian government," he remarked.
Laeliyaj, a migrant worker from Cirebon, West Java, also thanked the government and P3MI that had reopened placement to the Saudi Arabia program.
