The provision of scholarships for health workers is included within the health human resources transformation primary program, namely the provision and quality improvement of health workers.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Health opened registrations for the second round of the Medical Specialist and Sub-Specialist Education (PPDS-Subspesialis) and Primary Service Family Doctor (KKLP) Assistance Program for 2023 on Monday.

"This program is a scholarship program that can be used as an effort to fulfill, equalize, and improve the quality of health workers in Indonesia," health worker provision director at the ministry, Oos Fatimah Rosyati, said.

PPDS-Subspesialis and KKLP are programs that are being undertaken as part of the health transformation effort of the ministry, she informed at an online press conference on Monday.

One of the keys for realizing the six pillars of health transformation outlined by the ministry is the transformation of health human resources, she added.

"The provision of scholarships for health workers is included within the health human resources transformation primary program, namely the provision and quality improvement of health workers," she said.

The lack of medical specialists and unequal distribution of medical specialists in Indonesia is one of the reasons why the PPDS-Subspecialis and KKLP programs have been initiated.

The ministry is cooperating with the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) for offering the programs. In 2021, scholarships were awarded to 600 recipients, and their number increased to 1,676 in 2022.

This year’s scholarship quota for PPDS-Subspecialis and KKLP is 2,170. From this figure, 984 scholarships were awarded in the first round and the rest will be given in the second round.

Registrations will remain open until July 12, 2023, and can be completed online through the website sibk.kemkes.go.id.

The program conditions and selection activity schedule can also be accessed on the website, she informed.

"All health workers are expected to be able to access information related to this program more easily with this," Rosyati said.
