Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto has said that Indonesia is willing to become a mediator to support efforts to resolve the raging armed conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

"We fully respect international provisions. Our foreign policy is crystal clear. We strive to maintain friendly relationships with all parties and we are consistently trying to be a mediator," he said after meeting with President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Monday.

Minister Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia has continued to pay close attention to the global situation, including the rapidly changing situation in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

He also confirmed that Indonesia is ready to mediate the conflict.

"With the consent of both parties, we are willing to mediate the conflict. We keep endeavoring to provide feasible suggestions," he said.

The minister further revealed that he is planning to submit a detailed report to the President on the current conflict situation. The head of state also briefed the minister on what to do regarding the current global situation.

"Mr.President outlined a number of directives and we will carry them out," Subianto affirmed.

During his meeting with the President, Minister Subianto reported the results of his visit to Europe, including the 2023 International Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, Paris, France.

In addition, he informed the President that many countries, especially in Africa, have sought Indonesia’s help in training their defense forces.

"We will take follow-up actions to this. The point is that we are paying attention to the current global situation so that we can formulate plans to face any events in the future," he said.
