"I expect that by involving tertiary education institutions in Indonesia, it can contribute by reviewing the collected data in a specific manner and process it as an input for the National Medium-Term Development Plan, so it can maximize the quality of results," Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono stated at the opening of the 2023 Central Level Technical Coordination Meeting of National Health Survey at the ministry's office here on Tuesday.
Harbuwono highlighted the importance of data utilization in pursuing national health programs. However, oftentimes, data collected from surveys had yet to be utilized optimally, he pointed out.
People recognize the National Health Survey as basic health research, which is hosted regularly by the government, such as in 2007, 2013, and 2018, the deputy minister remarked.
The meeting serves as a means for stakeholders to understand the mechanism of the 2023 SKI on a regional scope, such as provincial and district or city level, as outlined in the guidelines.
Head of the Central Health Development Policy Agency (BKPK) Syarifah Eliza Munira, who concurrently serves as head of the 2023 SKI committee, affirmed that the survey aims to gain a better understanding of the people's health conditions and risks.
She also noted that the initiative included public nutritional status monitoring by employing the survey on nutrition that is usually hosted annually.
"In the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan, the Health Ministry, through the Health Development Policy Agency, is entrusted to conduct the National Health Survey, which is the follow up to the basic health research," she stated.
The result of the survey will serve as material for evaluation to formulate the 2024-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan so as to ensure an effective policy based on accurate data, Munira pointed out.
The survey will commence in August 2023 in 38 provinces and 514 districts and cities in which people will be interviewed and tested by anthropometric and biometric tools, among others, and will undergo a dental health checkup, she stated.
