Joko Setyawan, the head of the province's transportation agency, stated in Semarang on Tuesday that Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has called for easy and affordable transportation services for the community.
He revealed that cashless payments have been implemented since late 2021, and more digital wallets have been added since then.
He further mentioned that, on average, 17,832 digital transactions have been recorded per month on TransJateng buses as of May 2023.
Most of the digital transactions have been made on the Semarang-Bawen route (8,543 transactions), followed by Magelang-Purworejo (2,864).
The Semarang-Kendal corridor has recorded 2,677 digital transactions, Purwokerto-Purbalingga 1,889, Solo-Sragen 978, and Semarang-Grobogan 881.
"All TransJateng corridors can accept cashless payments," said Setyawan.
He informed that TransJateng accepts cashless transactions using the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) through m-banking or other digital wallets such as OVO, DANA, GoPay, ShopeePay, and others.
TransJateng passengers can also make digital payments using the ticket purchase feature on the Si Anteng app.
There is also the Multi-Trip Card (KMT) that can be used for commuter train trips.
"TransJateng's non-cash tapping service collaborates with state-owned banks such as BNI, BRI, Bank Mandiri, and also the private bank BCA," informed Setyawan.
Mass transportation TransJateng was launched by Governor Pranowo in 2017, and it currently operates six routes.
The six routes are Semarang-Bawen, Semarang-Kendal, Purwokerto-Purbalingga, Magelang-Purworejo, Solo-Sragen, and Semarang-Grobogan.
A new route, Solo-Wonogiri, will start operating in August this year.
In addition to cooperating with local bus operators, the Central Java provincial government is also coordinating with the Wonogiri district government to provide the service.
