During his remark at the event held here on Monday, Hartarto said it is an honor for Indonesia to become the host of the Inclusive Lifelong Learning Conference (ILLC) along with the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning.
Lifelong learning is an important matter, both for individuals and society as a whole, he affirmed.
This also functions as a powerful tool in empowering individuals across the world to confront pressing global challenges in the future, including climate change, demographic shift, workforce market volatility, and others, he remarked.
Lifelong learning also plays a central role in providing individuals with learning and skills necessary to fully utilize the advancements in technology, he noted.
One such utilization of technological advancement includes those driven by generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology, he highlighted.

According to Hartarto, in this era of disruption, the key to develop lies in individual skills to adapt. All of this can be done through lifelong learning, he said.
In response to this challenge, Indonesia along with the UNESCO Institute of Lifelong Learning hold the ILLC 2023.
The ILLC 2023 is held in Bali on July 3-6, 2023, with over 300 participants from 40 countries.
The minister, representing the Indonesian government, proudly launched the #ImALifelongLearner campaign in cooperation with the UNESCO.
The minister invited everyone to campaign this as a platform to underline that people from all ages and backgrounds should have the right over education.
At the event, Hartarto also highlighted that the Pre-Employment Card Program is the Indonesian government's commitment to supporting lifelong learning for all individuals.
The success of the Pre-Employment Card Program in improving the skills and knowledge of its recipients has a clear and certifiable proof, he noted.
