The pre-marriage guidance program for those who are about to get married will strengthen family resilience that leads to this nation's resilience
Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA) - The Religious Affairs Ministry has said that knowledge gained from the pre-marriage class program would be useful for every couple in navigating married life.

"The pre-marriage guidance program for those who are about to get married will strengthen family resilience that leads to this nation's resilience," the ministry's Director General of Islamic Community Guidance, Kamaruddin Amin, said here on Wednesday.

The benefits of participating in the program include gaining knowledge of how to form a happy and harmonious household, he highlighted while observing a pre-marriage class and health examination in Palembang for couples who are planning to get married.

He said the program teaches couples about ways to face dynamics and overcome problems in a marriage.

According to him, the program aims to build Indonesian families that are religious, peaceful, and full of love and compassion.

"With family resilience, we hope that the divorce rate can be reduced, the acceleration of stunting reduction can be successful, and trafficking crimes and domestic violence, as well as extreme poverty, can be eliminated," he said.

He further said that the pre-marriage program is expected to result in the creation of quality human resources, in accordance with the values of Nawa Cita, the President's nine priorities until 2024.

The program is also based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has been implemented nationally as part of the government's efforts with stakeholders to prepare strong prospective married couples.

The program is being offered at religious affairs sub-district offices (KUA).

"The government is well aware that family life is likened to a building; to protect the building from storms and earthquake shocks, it must be built on a solid foundation with sturdy building materials and high-quality adhesives," Amin remarked.

Furthermore, he said he hoped that the 30th National Family Day can serve as an impetus for couples who are planning to get married to participate in the program and help build family resilience.
