The inspection is being carried out to ensure pilgrims' health before they return to their hometowns, the head of Class 1 Soekarno Hatta KKP, Naning Nugrahini, said in Jakarta on Thursday.
"The team has also obtained data regarding sick and healthy pilgrims from the Indonesian Hajj Health Workers (TKHI)," she informed.
Indonesian Hajj pilgrims began to arrive in Indonesia on July 4, 2023, while the group flight will arrive on August 2.
Nugrahini said that first, doctors are examining the condition of pilgrims and checking the medicines and first aid used while on the plane. Hajj pilgrims found to be sick during the examination are being taken to the KKP clinic at Soekarno Hatta Airport.
Second, sanitarians are carrying out sanitary checks on the planes, scanning for germs using a field microscope, checking water quality, and taking food and drink samples on board.
Third, epidemiologists are taking pilgrims' health recap to identify any diseases that have the potential to cause an outbreak among Hajj pilgrims.
"At Soekarno Hatta Airport, we will prepare three rooms namely an examination room, an observation room, and a quarantine room. Meanwhile, at the Hajj dormitory, a clinic equipped with beds has been prepared. The Hajj dormitory will also be equipped with one floor for observation rooms and a quarantine room," she added.
Nugrahini stated that the health service has been prepared to cater to Hajj pilgrims' health issues during the pilgrimage since 80 percent of them are at high risk.
"The majority of them had sore throats, coughs, runny nose, fever, and others. Therefore, we suggested them to be taken to the KKP clinic at Soekarno Hatta Airport," she informed.
