Lasiran, PLN General Manager in East Java, stated that the company has restored the operational status of 134 distribution substations supplying electricity to 34,783 customers, owing to the tremendous efforts exerted by 78 joint personnel.
"Praise be to God, PLN has managed to restore 100 percent of the power supply in the areas affected by the flash cold lava flood," he noted in a written statement received in Lumajang on Sunday.
Moreover, he added, the process was faster than expected since PLN received full support from the East Java Governor, Lumajang's Regional Leadership Communication Forum, as well as local residents.
Furthermore, he informed us that PLN continues to send various assistance items in the form of food, clothing, sleeping equipment, infant needs, and toiletries to two evacuation locations in Tumpeng Village and Jarit Village.
"We appeal to the community to stay vigilant and report on any potential for electrical hazards to ensure that the electricity installations are in a dry condition, so it is safe to restore the power supply in houses," he added.
Torrential rains, landslides and the cold lava flood from Mount Semeru broke the Kalimujur bridge, washed away as many as six poles of the Medium-Voltage Air Line, and caused blackouts in Pronojiwo and Ampelgading sub-districts of Lumajang.
In response to the problems, the company immediately deployed 70 joint personnel, four units of cranes, and nine engineering cars to map out the blackout areas and carry out repairs.
