Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs has informed that 158 national strategic projects (NSPs) have been completed as of July 11, 2023.

The latest project was the Cisumdawu toll road construction, which was officiated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), according to Wahyu Utomo, Deputy for Regional Development and Spatial Planning Coordination at the ministry.

"Therefore, since 2016, when the National Strategic Project (program) began, 158 projects have been completed as of July 11, 2023," he said during a media gathering in Jakarta on Thursday.

He estimated that the total value of the 158 projects is Rp1,002.6 trillion (around US$67 billion).

The ministry expects to complete another 25 projects this year, he said.

In 2024, the government is also aiming to complete 31 projects, Utomo added.

The government has outlined 210 projects and 12 programs under the National Strategic Project Program, with a capped investment value of Rp5,764 trillion (around US$385 billion).

Jokowi is aiming to complete all the projects by 2024, particularly in terms of land allocation and permits, Utomo said.

He affirmed that the government is collaborating with the private sector to secure funding for the projects to reduce the burden on the state budget.

On the same occasion, Insannul Kamil, an official at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), informed that Kadin is consistently supporting such collaboration through schemes such as government and business collaboration and crowdfunding.

"Therefore, now it is about supporting this project, which must always go on because infrastructure is the key instrument that triggers achievements. We have the 2045 Golden Indonesia target, and the private sector's involvement has a significant impact," he added.
