"These countries are disproportionately vulnerable to the global crisis and external disturbances," said Ivanovich Agusta, the Head of Development and Information Agency at the ministry, in a statement received on Friday.
Agusta mentioned that Indonesia had proposed three points at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2023 at the UN Headquarters.
The HLPF, themed "Accelerating the recovery from COVID-19 and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels," is being held from July 10-19, 2023.
The first point is the reformation of the international financial architecture to improve access for disadvantaged countries.
It is also important to support these countries in managing their debt by offering debt-easing initiatives, debt restructuring, and sustainable debt management strategies.
"This will improve the countries' fiscal situations and encourage long-term economic stability," he remarked.
The second point is to strengthen technical assistance and capacity in human development.
"Society, especially young and productive people, is a vital asset in building resilience and advancing the 2030 SDG Achievement agenda," he remarked.
Meanwhile, the third point is to promote the transfer of technology and increase technological innovation to support productivity, competitiveness, and sustainable development.
According to Agusta, the transfer of technology can be facilitated through agreements, South-South cooperation, and public-private partnerships.
"Solidarity and international cooperation are important to support African countries, underdeveloped regions, and landlocked developing countries," he affirmed.
At the HLPF, Indonesia showcased its programs related to goals numbers 6, 7, 9, 11, and 17 of the Village SDGs.
The goals include Proper Villages with Clean Water and Sanitation; Villages with Clean and Renewable Energy; Development of Rural Infrastructure and Innovation as Needed; Safe and Comfortable Rural Residential Areas; as well as Partnerships for Village Development.
