Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - The Supreme Court will use state postal company PT Pos Indonesia's services to send documents associated with legal proceedings across Indonesia.

"I have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the cooperation," Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, M. Syarifuddin, announced at an event held for strengthening cooperation between the Supreme Court and Pos Indonesia here on Friday.

Mailing services through PT Pos are faster, more accurate, and cheaper, he added.

The Supreme Court will send summons and documents related to criminal procedures through the postal company.

There are 900 court offices that undertake correspondence activities, and through PT Pos, the correspondence can be observed in real-time.

"It is very detailed. We can see who signs (the documents) too," he said.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pos Faizal Rochmad Djoemadi said that the cooperation agreement with the Supreme Court has been arranged in detail, starting from the mailing procedure to data recording.

"So everything can be checked online, real-time, 24/7," Djoemadi added.

He explained that the mailing of documents on legal proceedings will be carried out under a special scheme as such documents are very important.

"These documents are very important and secretive because they contain undisclosed information," he said.

According to him, PT Pos can ship 115 million documents and parcels in a year.

He assured that the special service for the court can be accommodated.

"We have 4,800 postal offices, so if one person is stationed in each office, we have a minimum capacity of 4,800," he explained.

Earlier in May, the postal service established cooperation with the Supreme Court for handling registered mail documents through all its postal offices in Indonesia.

Under the cooperation, the Supreme Court will use Pos Sameday, Pos Nextday, and Pos Reguler services that are available in all districts and cities. The cooperation will also include a pick-up service.
