Jakarta (ANTARA) - Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) learned from the experience of the Center for Liveable Cities (CLC), an organization under the Singapore's Ministry of National Development, in developing liveable city to be adapted in Nusantara's development.

"I expect that we can have more sessions with CLC in the future," Deputy for Facilities and Infrastructure at OIKN Silvia Halim noted through a statement on Friday in connection with Singaporean CLC's visit to IKN.

"Singapore is a city and also a country that became an inspiration for many cities in the world, including Indonesia," she affirmed.

Singaporean CLC shared its experience with OIKN in developing a liveable city that aligns with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between OIKN and CLC that was inked in March 2023.

Singapore is one of the finest examples for OIKN to develop Nusantara, East Kalimantan, to make it a sustainable, smart, and green city, Halim explained.

"Hard work is necessary to develop a city from scratch amid a forest, but we believe that learning and effort do not have to start from zero," she remarked.

According to Halim, learning from the experiences of other countries, such as Singapore, is the best method. Various knowledge and experiences can be gained and then improved upon.

"We expect that we have the opportunity to do it better and then develop a city for the future, not just for Indonesia but also the world," she remarked.

Executive Director of CLC Hugh Lim directly observed the progress in development of IKN.

He said that it was a privilege for his group to be able to witness the remarkable advancement of Indonesia's important project.

On the occasion, CLC also had the opportunity to directly observe several spots in IKN, such as the Sepaku Semoi Dam, Nusantara Zero Point, West Sumbu Kebangsaan, and Construction Workers Housing.

Through the visit, CLC has been able to gain a better understanding of the project development stages and can see that there is a very comprehensive plan for this, Lim remarked.

He also expects to be able to exchange knowledge from the development experience in Singapore with OIKN officials.
