Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA) - The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) has deployed teams to investigate the collision between the KA Brantas passenger train and a trailer truck at a railway crossing on Madukoro Street, Semarang, Central Java, earlier this week.

KNKT's senior investigator, Ahmad Wildan, stated on Friday that the investigation would be conducted by three teams, with the first team deployed to examine the truck's conditions and dimensions.

"The truck involved in the accident has a ground clearance of 20-30 centimeters," he noted.

Meanwhile, the second team will inspect the elevation at the railway crossing. The investigator pointed out that it is suspected that the crossing site cannot accommodate vehicles with low ground clearance.

"After obtaining the truck's dimension and road elevation data, we will create a simulation," Wildan stated.

The investigation aims to uncover all factors that caused the truck to be stuck on the railway crossing in the first place, he affirmed.

Wildan said that the third team would focus on the state railway company PT KAI, which operates KA Brantas, to investigate several aspects, including how quickly information about a vehicle stuck on the railway crossing can be obtained.

"(We will also investigate) PT KAI's emergency plan in any critical situation," he remarked.

Wildan stated that the investigation report on the accident would serve as a reference for the government in determining policies on railway crossings.

"The investigation results are not related to the police investigation," he stressed.
