He made the request at the BNPT's 13th anniversary commemoration event here on Friday.
Amin asked the BNPT and relevant parties to monitor and supervise social media, especially ahead of the elections, to prevent the use of social media as a medium for spreading narratives of intolerance and hate speech.
He also asked the BNPT not to be complacent, saying terror organizations will always find ways to spread radical views, especially among vulnerable groups, namely women, youngsters, and children.
"We need to continue to observe and be aware of conditions in the field, such as indications of an increase in categories among students or youngsters. First, from tolerant to passive intolerant, then passive intolerant to active, and from active intolerant to exposed," he said.
According to him, the situation could become risky if adequate and measured actions are not taken.
Amin stressed that exposure to intolerant views can cause the potential of adolescents and children forming the golden generation by 2045 to be lost. Indonesia needs tolerant and inclusive younger generations to attain the Golden Indonesia goal.
He also asked the BNPT and stakeholders to follow up on two things, first, bolstering collaboration through a multi-party approach.
"Block terrorism jointly. We already have a National Action Plan as a guide for collaborative work," he said.
He further said that counter-radicalization measures to prevent the growth of radical views and deradicalization efforts to restore those who have been exposed to terror ideologies must be continued by cooperating with all ministries and institutions.
Second, Amin asked the BNPT to approach youngsters, both in schools and neighborhoods, to promote religious moderation, as well as strengthen nationalism knowledge with support from religious and community leaders.
The Vice President then congratulated the BNPT on its anniversary. He expressed the hope that the agency will continue to guard Indonesia's integrity amid its diversity.
