Manado (ANTARA) - Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri invites Sam Ratulangi University of Manado (Unsrat) students to become corruption eradication agents.

He delivered the remark at a public lecture on anti-corruption values during Unsrat's Faculty of Law 65th-anniversary event in Manado, North Sulawesi, on Friday (July 28).

"I invite 28,000 Unsrat students to become good individuals and corruption eradication agents, who play a role in building an anti-corruption culture," Bahuri said.

He expressed optimism that the country would eventually bid farewell to corruption, saying, "One day, we will live in a world where Indonesia is free of corruption."

During the public lecture, Bahuri outlined three strategies applied by the KPK to eradicate corruption in the country.

The first strategy concerns KPK's commitment to disseminating education on anti-corruption values to the public to build vigilance and awareness among the people, as corrupt acts pose dangers to Indonesia and hinder its goals.

"Corruption will prevent us from educating the nation, elevating the standard of living of the people, and protecting the entire country," he pointed out.

Hence, the KPK is striving to prevent corruption through an educational approach, including the implementation of an integrity pact program that targets bureaucrats, political parties' administrators, legislators, and legislative candidates.

The program aims to instill integrity values in them to deter them from corruption, he explained.

The second strategy involves preventive measures by making changes in the system to eliminate opportunities for corruption.

"Moreover, we are taking enforcement measures as the third strategy," he noted.

The public lecture was attended by the university's rector, Professor Oktovian Berty Alexander Sompie, deans, lecturers, and students.
