Labuan Bajo, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry has expressed the hope that the Manggarai Coffee Festival in Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, will focus on quality and bring benefits to the community.

"The quality of this activity means that they must provide added value in terms of economy, social, culture, local wisdom, environment, and sustainability," the deputy for tourism products and event organization at the ministry, Vinsensius Jemadu, said here on Friday.

The Manggarai district government and the district's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) are holding the 2nd Manggarai Coffee Festival from August 4–6, 2023.

According to Jemadu, the coffee festival implementation can be a way to support the economic recovery movement.

However, he said, the implementation should not emphasize quantity, but quality.

Therefore, the concept of sustainability must continue to be carried out so that creative economy events in the region, like the Manggarai Coffee Festival, can become quality activities and have a positive impact on the community, he added.

"That's why I say that this activity must present micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and sell local products," he explained.

According to him, the event must also be promoted to other districts.

He also called for massive promotion and education that can contribute to the movement of domestic tourists.

"The movement of domestic tourism now means (tourists) from one district to another. Hopefully, foreign tourists will participate, too," he said.

On the same occasion, he praised the local government, the diocese, business actors, and communities who have supported the festival.

"We will also support this event to be proposed and curated for the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN), where it can enter the national level, thus the support will be greater," he said.
