The Environmental and Social Innovation Awards (ENSIA) is provided by PT Sucofindo, a state-run firm in inspection and certification services.
The awards were given at the Gumaya Hotel in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday (August 10).
The three platinum awards were given to Kalbe's factory in Cikarang, Bekasi District, West Java, in the categories of Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency, and Social Innovation.
Kalbe's Director of Pharma Manufacturing and Quality Sherly Septiana Harjo in her statement received on Sunday stated that the awards is a recognition of Kalbe's commitment to preserve the environment in its production activities, especially at its manufacturing facility in Cikarang.
"We are using renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and optimizing the processes at the factory and all Kalbe Group network, including for distribution," Harjo said.
Harjo added that Kalbe has paid attention to the environmental impact of its production process to the surrounding areas.
The company also received a platinum awards in the field of sustainability, in the category of Social Innovation, and inspirational Local Hero obtained by Matheus Dwi Pramono, Head of Tirta Asri Association.
Kalbe's sustainability program that promotes access to clean water and environmentally-based waste management in Watuagung, Wonogiri, has become Kalbe's concrete action in creating a healthy society with a better environment.
"In accordance with the Joint Sustainability Commitment to the Nation's Health, Kalbe does not only make people healthy as our core business, but we also want to provide benefits for a better environment," Corporate Sustainability Senior Manager Abi Nisaka said.
