Jakarta (ANTARA) - The General Secretariat of the King Faisal Prize has opened nominations for the 2025 award in five categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science.

In a statement released on Friday, Secretary General of the King Faisal Prize, Dr. Abdulaziz Alsebail, said that this marks a pinnacle in the prize’s 47-year history of recognizing and honoring prominent individuals and entities who have enriched humanity with their work.

The 2025 prize will be awarded in the following categories:

  • Islamic Studies: "Studies of Archaeology in the Arabian Peninsula"
  • Arabic Language and Literature: "Studies of Identity in Arabic Literature"
  • Medicine: "Cellular Therapy"
  • Science: "Physics"
The Service to Islam prize is an honorary award bestowed on those whose works of goodwill have immensely served Islam, Muslims, and humanity as a whole.

The nominations for the prize will close on March 31, 2024, and will be accepted from academic and scientific institutions as well as research centers.

The nominations can be submitted by email to nominations@kingfaisalprize.org or the nomination website at https://www.kingfaisalprize.org/nominations.

Since 1979, the King Faisal Prize has been awarded to over 290 scientists and scholars from 45 countries, many of whom have also received other prestigious global awards.

The Service to Islam prize has been awarded to two Indonesians: Professor Irwandi Jaswir in 2018 and Dr. Mohammad Natsir in 1980.
