Jakarta (ANTARA) - The media center prepared for the 2023 Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) High-Level Meeting is ready to be used, Director General of Public Information and Communication at the Communication and Informatics Ministry, Usman Kansong, has said.

He declared this after visiting the media center at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, with the editors-in-chief of several national media outlets on Sunday (October 8).

According to him, in addition to the media center, other facilities at the venue, including the summit meeting room and the gala dinner room, are also ready.

The first AIS Forum High-Level Meeting will be held on October 10 and 11, in Bali, with the theme of "Fostering Collaboration, Enabling Innovation for Our Ocean and Our Future."

The summit will focus on three aspects: blue economy development, climate change, and strengthening solidarity between archipelagic and island states.

Kansong said that the media center is equipped with internet telecommunications and infrastructure with a capacity of 10 gigabytes per second (Gbps).

The services prepared at the media center are no different from those readied for other international standard events in Indonesia, he added.

"Hopefully, this will be stable because when holding international events, we often collaborate with Telkom. I think the capacity is different but the service unit is the same," he said.

Kansong informed that his side will provide assistance to the 280 journalists from registered national and foreign media who will be covering the summit.

"As of today (October 8), at least 280 journalists (have been registered) to cover the AIS Forum High-Level Meeting," he said.

The 280 journalists belong to 78 media outlets: 16 international media outlets, 35 national media outlets, and 28 local media outlets. They include 11 foreign journalists, 204 Indonesian journalists, 7 public relations staff from ministries/agencies, and 65 data entry officers (DEO), he informed.

Kansong said he believes that the issues discussed at the summit will be covered well by the 280 journalists.

"We need to actively publicize the AIS event internationally by making press releases in English and news blasts to international media," he added.
