Indonesia can make the most of South Africa's position as the trade hub of its surrounding countries
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Seven medical equipment procurement companies from Indonesia are participating in the 2023 Africa Health exhibition at the Gallagher Convention Center, Johannesburg, South Africa, on October 17-19, the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Johannesburg stated.

As cited from a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, on Thursday, Deputy Head of ITPC Johannesburg, Murdopo, noted that this year's Africa Health exhibition provided valuable opportunities to Indonesia to promote its medical equipment in South Africa.

"Through the participation of seven companies in this exhibition, Indonesia seeks to explore potential and opportunities while building trade and investment cooperation networks with African countries in the field of pharmacy and medical equipment," he remarked.

ITPC Johannesburg and the Association of Indonesian Medical Device Manufacturers (ASPAKI) are collaborating to facilitate the participation of seven Indonesian companies in the exhibition.

The seven companies are PT Oneject Indonesia, PT Sugih Instrumendo Abadi, PT Prodia Diagnostic Line, PT Liquid Pharmalab Indonesia, PT Swayasa Prakarsa, PT Kalmed Manufaktur Indonesia, and PT Dami Sariwarna.

According to Murdopo, by promoting its products in the exhibition, Indonesia can attract potential buyers not only from South Africa but also from surrounding countries.

"Indonesia can make the most of South Africa's position as the trade hub of its surrounding countries," he stated.

He further explained that the promotion of national health products at the event is aimed at diversifying products and demonstrating Indonesia's capability of producing sophisticated medical and pharmaceutical equipment.

South African market potential for medical equipment is enormous owing to the country's role as a reference for its neighbors in terms of health facilities, he noted.

In 2022, South Africa's total value of medical equipment imports was recorded at as much as US$1 billion, according to Trademap, a data center for statistics, market research, and world's trade performance devised by UNCTAD/WTO.

Indonesia must make the most of the enormous market potential in South Africa and its surrounding countries, Murdopo concluded.
