Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), on Wednesday, conducted an inspection of the facilities and services available at the Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Regional Public Hospital in Tebo District, Jambi Province.

As quoted from a press release received from his secretariat in Jakarta, the president views the physical structure of the public hospital as proper and clean.

"Based on my review, the Sultan Thaha Regional Public Hospital has good and clean rooms," he told journalists after the inspection.

He noted that the visit was also made to directly check the readiness of the hospital to receive and operate a range of medical equipment that will be provided by the central government.

"This year, we are planning to deliver equipment needed for CT scan, mammography, and catheterization laboratory. This hospital needs to ensure its preparedness since large-sized equipment requires sufficient electricity, adequate space, and relevant specialist doctors," he pointed out.

He added that the Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Hospital is ready to receive the equipment while noting that the hospital still lacks cardiologists.

However, the head of state ensured that the public hospital hosts the facilities needed to cater to the needs of people.

"The facilities are adequate even more than adequate I think. They can cover all the medical services needed by the public. This hospital spans over 10 hectares of land. If that is not enough, just add more rooms, expand the hospital," he stated.

Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Jambi Governor Al Haris, and Acting Tebo District Head Varial Adhi Putra accompanied the president during the inspection.
