Head of Basarnas Vice Marshal Kusworo stated here Thursday that every evacuation reporting incident through hotline number 115 will be processed, maximum within 25 minutes to the location.
Kusworo indicated that his team could receive 7-10 evacuation requests each day to handle crisis situations, such as people drowning and ship collisions.
Basarnas will monitor all reports of evacuation requests received by Basarnas that is always available round the clock and seven days a week.
He also noted that the simulation for handling critical victims due to flooding that occurred in Jakarta and its surroundings at Lake Sunter in North Jakarta on Thursday morning also tested the speed of response from SAR members and their potential.
The Basarnas head explained that the strength of the SAR team in Jakarta and the surrounding areas had reached more than four thousand people.
Basarnas deploys a wide range of water SAR equipment and infrastructure, including Landing Craft Rubber (LCR) boats, Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIB), hovercraft, inflatable rafts, diving equipment, jet skis, aqua eyes, diver-mounted displays (DMD), remotely operated vehicles (ROV), and ATV amphibious vehicles.
“We ran this simulation in Jakarta. We have also urged the Indonesian Technical Implementation Units, or SAR Offices, to be ready and act quickly in the face of seasonal changes, notably hydrometeorological disasters that threaten community safety in all work areas,” he remarked.
