"We have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian Digital Industry Center (PIDI 4.0) and ASTM," Head of the ministry's Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) Masrokhan remarked here on Wednesday.
The MoU between PIDI 4.0 and ASTM is related to the development of industrial human resources and industrial transformation 4.0, he stated.
He explained that in the US, traditional manufacturing processes using robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), big data analysis, artificial intelligence, and other technologies had proven to increase efficiency.
The scope of cooperation between BPSDMI and ASTM includes Industry 4.0 upskilling, reskilling, and cross-skilling trainings for human resources in Indonesia.
The cooperation encompasses sectors comprising design, certification, and safety for additive manufacturing, metal additive manufacturing quality assurance, and laser powder bed fusion.
"In addition, the cooperation also includes Industry 4.0 research and development projects that are supported by the Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE), workshops, conferences, symposia, and other potential programs," Masrokhan stated.
ASTM will provide assistance to local organizations through developing guidance documents, special training, preparation of international-standard Industry 4.0 facilities, quality management systems, and certification frameworks in Industry 4.0.
In addition to the MoU signing with ASTM, BPSDMI, on Thursday (November 16), also visited the US Department of Commerce and the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
"I say that NIST and PIDI 4.0 have the same goal, which is to encourage industrial innovation and competitiveness by advancing technology as an effort to increase economic resilience," he added.
