Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) commenced the third day of his working visit to Indonesia's Papua region by visiting Fakfak District, West Papua Province, on Friday, and signing an inscription on the Pancasila Monument in Tanama Village.

Upon his arrival at 6:50 a.m. local time, the president was welcomed by Fakfak District Head Untung Tamsil, Fakfak District Deputy Head Yohana Dina Hindom, and Tanama Village Chief Sukur Weripih.

President Jokowi signed the inscription on the Pancasila Monument that was built to remind the people of the struggles for independence made by heroes who originated from Tanama Village.

"This monument is of high importance because it helps people reminisce about freedom fighters from Tanama Village," village chief Weripih stated after the signing process.

The village chief expressed hope that the people would continue to remember the deeds of Indonesian heroes and work together to develop the country.

"I would like to invite communities to avoid conflicts for the sake of developing our country," Weripih remarked.

After visiting the Pancasila Monument, President Jokowi continued his activities by inaugurating the Tangguh Train 3, one of the government's national strategic projects in Bintuni Bay District, West Papua.
