"Identify popular hashtags, fake accounts, and trends that have the potential to lead to false information," he said during a press conference after "The Readiness Call for the Supervision of the Stages of the 2024 Election Campaigns" event in Jakarta on Sunday.
He remarked that any information, including hoaxes and other forms of disinformation, spreads quickly on social media.
On the same occasion, Bawaslu member Puadi said that the agency will soon launch an application called Siwaskam to strengthen the supervision of election campaigns.
He said that with the Siwaskam (Campaign Supervision Information System) application, the campaign supervision process would be more targeted. This ensures that candidates, from the national to the village level, follow the rules.
Puadi also reminded Bawaslu offices in districts and cities to form the Campaign Supervision Facilitation Team, which is responsible for ensuring that the campaign supervision process runs according to the regulation.
Bawaslu held the event to prepare for the supervision of the 2024 election stages.
The event was attended by Bawaslu officials, representatives from related ministries and government agencies, and Minister of Communication and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) has scheduled the official campaigning period from November 28, 2023, to February 10, 2024, and the voting day on February 14, 2024.
Bawaslu said that so far, 33,740 preventive actions against election violations have been taken before the campaign period.
