"This theme is expected to encourage broadcasters' concern over environmental issues through broadcast programs. Messages of awareness and concern for the environment can be conveyed easily to the community through contents by broadcasting agencies," Head of KPI Ubaidillah said in a press conference here on Sunday.
There are 25 award categories in the 2023 KPI Awards, among others, Television Talk Show, Radio Talk Show, Television News, Radio News, Television Variety Show, Television Programs for Environmental Care, Innovative and Collaborative Regional KPI, and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The "eco-broadcasting" as the theme of the 2023 KPI Awards showed KPI's concern over environmental conditions in Indonesia. KPI believes that air pollution, land and forest fires, waste problems, floods, and landslides must be stopped.
According to KPI, messages of concern and the importance of environmental sustainability need to be broadcast massively through national broadcasters.
Ubaidillah added that environmental awareness needs to be increased and educated to the wider audience, one of which can be inserted in the broadcast contents.
Not only broadcasters, he also invited all related components such as local governments and the general public to be involved in promoting awareness on environmental care through information dissemination.
"We hope that all parties and the community can build awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability so that a healthy environment can be realized," Ubaidillah added.
