This was conveyed by Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday after an internal meeting with Widodo regarding the demographic dividend issue.
"What the President said is that we will get an abundant demographic dividend from the working-age population until 2030. What must be done is (efforts) to make this demographic dividend provide benefits to our national development," she informed.
To fulfill this request, she said, the Ministry of Manpower must prepare human resources who have the skills and competencies to meet the needs of the job market.
During the meeting, Fauziyah also reported on the employment situation in Indonesia, saying the nation's unemployment rate declined to 5.32 percent this year.
"Then, I also conveyed (information) about the availability of the job market in the SIAPkerja (the Manpower Ministry's employment platform) in the Manpower Ministry's job market information system," she added.
The Ministry of Manpower has established cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to prepare vocational education opportunities for job creation.
The ministry has also identified the potential of the domestic job market and global job market to create human resources with global-level competitiveness.
"The President mentioned about the job opportunities in Japan. The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Muhadjir Effendy) also conveyed (information) about job opportunities in Germany. We will identify them together," Minister Fauziyah said.
