"Digital transformation is predicted to be able to encourage national economic growth and enable Indonesia to become the country with the fifth-strongest economy in the world," he stated at the National Digital Transformation Index Seminar here on Wednesday.
Patria noted that in the last decade, the digital sector had grown 2.5 folds faster than the non-digital sector and contributed around 15 percent to the global gross domestic product (GDP).
In the ASEAN region, the digital economy is expected to provide an added value of US$1 trillion to ASEAN's GDP in 2030.
As for Indonesia, digital transformation is projected to encourage the country's economic growth to reach 6.2 percent by 2045.
In this regard, the deputy minister stated that the government has been making various efforts to optimize the potential and benefits of digital technology through its commitment to accelerating digital transformation in the last few years.
At Wednesday's seminar, the Kominfo Ministry involved 30 ministries and agencies, 115 provincial government organizations, 42 private parties, 10 higher education institutions, and eight academicians and practitioners to launch the 2045 Digital Indonesia Vision (VID) and measure the national digital transformation index.
The 2045 VID is a long-term plan in the digital sector to harmonize the interests of stakeholders with a sectoral and regional perspective.
The vision is created to become a reference for the government, the community, and the private parties regarding the national vision and strategy in the digital sector.
"We heard that many master plan, blueprint, and roadmap documents have been launched to respond to developments in digital technology, but in general, they touch on the same elements, generally regarding infrastructure, human resources, business or the economy, and government," Patria remarked.
To this end, he assessed that the 2045 VID is needed to harmonize all of them.
