Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned fertilizer producer PT Pupuk Indonesia announced that as many as 1,077 distributors will support the distribution of subsidized fertilizers in 2024 to increase national food productivity and security.

"(Some) 1,077 distributors are ready to support the distribution of subsidized fertilizers in 2024. They are expected to maximize distribution by maintaining administrative order and regulatory compliance," Pupuk Indonesia Marketing Director Tri Wahyudi Saleh said here on Thursday.

Saleh noted that Pupuk Indonesia is ready to carry out efforts and distribute the allocated subsidized fertilizer in 2024 by following the government policy and focusing on timeliness.

The company, along with the 1,077 distributors, will distribute fertilizer to farmers registered in the e-Alokasi app.

Saleh remarked that the company is committed to the fertilizer distribution process by signing the Subsidized Fertilizer Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPJB) for the fiscal year 2024 in Batam, Riau Islands, on December 12-13, 2023.

In addition, Saleh said, all distributors have been urged to optimize preparations for the distribution by year-end.

He emphasized that the distribution of subsidized fertilizers should pay attention to administrative order and compliance with regulations to keep the distribution running well and on target.

Earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had stated that the government would optimize the distribution of fertilizers to increase farmers' food production.

The president also noted that the government will continue to conduct regular supervision to prevent problems that might arise and anticipate farmers' complaints.

Meanwhile, based on data from Pupuk Indonesia, as of November 30, 2023, some 5.71 million tons of subsidized fertilizers have been distributed this year, or 94 percent of this year's total allocation of 6.05 million tons.
