"This is a cumulative figure from four toll gates (GT), namely Cikupa GT (bound for Merak), Ciawi GT (to Puncak), Cikampek Utama GT (to Trans Java toll), and Kalihurip Utama GT (to Bandung)," Jasa Marga's Head of Corporate Communication & Community Development Group, Lisye Octaviana, noted in a statement received on Saturday.
Octaviana remarked that the figure increased by 23.25 percent as compared to the normal traffic of 696,342 vehicles recorded during the same period. In comparison with the 2022 Christmas holidays, the total traffic volume increased by 11.29 percent, or 772,835 vehicles.
Octaviana stated that majority of the 395,137 vehicles, or 45.94 percent, left for Bandung and the Trans Java toll; 268,100 vehicles, or 31.17 percent, for Merak; and 96,869 vehicles, or 22 .89 percent, for Puncak.
For traffic departing from Jabotabek for the Trans Java toll via Cikampek Utama GT, she recorded a total of 209,952 vehicles, an increase of 50.90 percent from the normal traffic.
Meanwhile, 185,185 vehicles departed from Jabotabek in the direction of Bandung via the Kalihurip Utama GT on the Cipularang Toll Road, an increase of 21.25 percent from the normal traffic.

In addition, 268,100 vehicles were recorded to leave Jabotabek towards Merak via Cikupa GT, an increase of 13.51 percent from the normal traffic.
Lastly, 196,869 vehicles were recorded to have departed Jabotabek for Puncak via Ciawi GT on the Jagorawi Toll Road, an increase of 16.99 percent from the normal traffic.
Octaviana noted that until this Saturday, traffic heading east via the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road was increasing.
"On Friday (December 22), Jasa Marga recorded that traffic leaving Jabotabek via the Cikampek Utama GT increased by 98.40 percent, with 65,487 vehicles from the normal 33,008 vehicles," she remarked.
According to Octaviana, the peak return flow for the Christmas holiday is predicted to occur on December 26, 2023.
She reminded travelers to avoid venturing out on projected peak times, such as in the morning and evening, to avoid congestion.
