The ministry's Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics, Taufiek Bawazier, said in a statement on Saturday that representatives from ADM had met with his team to provide an explanation of the scandal.
He added that the quality and safety of cars produced at the ADM factory in Indonesia are guaranteed.
"Yesterday, we received several envoys from their directors, and we asked them not to stop the export," he remarked.
He said that Daihatsu's production in Indonesia has not encountered any issues. The scandal in Japan has not had any direct influence on Daihatsu's manufacturing in Indonesia, he added.
"This means that there is no problem with Daihatsu products in Indonesia," he added.
The Ministry of Trade has asked ADM to provide clarification regarding the news of the safety test scandal.
The ministry's Director General of Consumer Protection and Orderly Commerce, Moga Simatupang, said that his team has asked ADM to pay more attention to the safety of motor vehicles produced and marketed in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, an executive officer at the company, Johan, assured that all Daihatsu vehicles produced, distributed, and sold in Indonesia have no problems in terms of quality and safety, and they meet the relevant regulations.
On December 26, 2023, ADM continued the exports of its products to more than 60 destination countries as they had been approved by the export authority of each country.
