Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government strongly condemned Israel's attack on United Nations (UN) facilities in Khan Younis city in Gaza on Wednesday.

"The attack adds to the list of violations that Israel continues to commit against international law," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on the X platform on Thursday.

At least nine people were killed and 75 injured in the Israeli attack on a UN training center sheltering Palestinian people in Khan Younis city.

United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini also condemned the Israeli occupation troops’ direct targeting of a training center run by the UN agency.

The UNRWA said that the Israeli action was in blatant disregard of the basic rules of war.

“(In) Israel once again a blatant disregard of basic rules of war,” Lazzarini said.

Expressing his views on "another horrific day in Gaza” on the X platform, he informed that at least 30 thousand people were sheltering in the UNRWA building. According to him, the death toll could be higher.

"That compound is a clearly marked UN facility and its coordinates were shared with Israeli authorities as we do for all our facilities," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli army said that it had completed the siege around Khan Younis city, which Tel Aviv described as a stronghold of the Palestinian Hamas group.
