Jakarta (ANTARA) - Representatives from three companies from Japan — East Japan Railway, Happo-en, and Scent Store Indonesia — met with the former Chief of the Army Staff, General (retd.) Dudung Abdurachman, this week.

The meeting, organized through the Sakuranesia Society Foundation, took place at Abdurachman's residence in the Patra Puri Complex, Cimanggis, Depok, West Java, on Thursday.

During the meeting, Tetsuo Ohara, a representative from the East Japan Railway Company, spoke about smart city development in Tokyo, Japan.

In March 2025, Japan will unveil its smart city project in Tokyo in front of the public.

He expressed the hope that Abdurachman would attend the ceremony.

Naoki Takahashi, a representative from Happo-en, said that currently, a traditional Japanese garden and a restaurant with a traditional house theme have been created in the area. The aim is to preserve Japanese tradition or culture.

The East Japan Railway Company and Happo-en are working together to develop advanced technology and a smart city without impinging on Japanese traditions or culture.

This can also be done in Indonesia, for instance, in Jakarta, where a smart city can be developed without affecting Indonesian traditions or culture.

Meanwhile, Lisandi Kurniawan, a representative from Scent Store Indonesia, said that Scent Store is a digital transformation platform for scents.

With Scent Store, scents can be converted into digital data, and thereafter, they can be changed back to real scents via electronic diffusers.

Scent Store has developed advanced technology that allows users to experience scents from different parts of the world.

The company has brought Bubah Alfian, a make-up artist from Indonesia, on board as a brand ambassador. This shows its serious commitment to entering the Indonesian market.

"Bubah's involvement helps increase brand awareness and attract the interest of Indonesian consumers by combining beauty, technology, and art," Kurniawan said.

His company donated Rp1 billion in the form of a virtual wallet (crypto) or Smell Tokens (SMLs) to the TNI through Abdurachman.

"This step shows the company's social responsibility and desire to make a positive contribution to Indonesian society," he said.

Meanwhile, Abdurachman welcomed the offers submitted by the three Japanese companies.

He also thanked Alex Tsai, co-founder of Scent Store, for making a donation for soldiers.

The money, which has been given in cryptocurrency, will be used to help soldiers in the Indonesian Army.
