"We will enter the stage of voting and counting votes of the 2024 election in 15 days. It is important to understand that this election process is a collective effort to maintain the democratic process," Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono stated here on Tuesday.
The Jakarta provincial government provided a secretariat building for the General Elections Commission (KPU) and the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), and a secretariat office for the sub-district election committee (PPK) and voting organizing committee (PPS) in villages.
Hartono said his side also provided warehouses for election logistics and 44 places for the voting recapitulation processes equipped with internet networks as well as security support at polling stations and during logistics distribution.
In addition, the acting governor emphasized the importance of synergy between security forces by placing security personnel at strategic points to increase vigilance and prevent potential disturbances or other threats.
The Jakarta provincial government also involves health workers in the voting and vote-counting stages as a preventive measure to handle fatigue among officers.
Security optimization during voter recapitulation is important to ensure that every vote is counted fairly and accurately, Hartono remarked.
"(This aims) to prevent potential cheating and other threats that can disrupt the process of voting and counting votes in the Jakarta area," he stated.
He also pressed to strengthen coordination between the KPU, Bawaslu, the Greater Jakarta Police, the District Military Command, and other relevant agencies to ensure that all election stages can run smoothly and in accordance with the regulations.
