Jakarta (ANTARA) - Synergy and collaboration are of the essence to properly manage the risk for development in Indonesia, National Development Planning Minister/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa stated on Tuesday (January 30).

Monoarfa made the statement at the inaugural meeting of the National Development Risk Management (MRPN) Committee at the Bappenas Building, Jakarta.

"We cannot afford to solely rely on the role of risk management efforts within an organization. It is necessary to take collaborative measures," he noted in a statement received from Bappenas here on Wednesday.

Monoarfa highlighted that the government had issued Presidential Regulation No. 39 of 2023 concerning MRPN in the midst of the formulation of the National Long-Term Development Plan 2024-2045 and National Mid-Term Development Plan 2025-2029.

Through the MRPN Committee, he said, the government has been striving to solidify Indonesia's risk management aspect within the process of program formulation and decision-making as well as measures for controlling strategic programs and projects.

He further noted that the implementation of MRPN is expected to step up development achievements, improve the quality of state governance, enhance the effectiveness of internal control systems, and stimulate innovation in public services.

"The implementation of MRPN serves as a testament to the government's commitment to applying good governance in managing development policies," the minister pointed out.

Meanwhile, Bappenas' Deputy for Development Monitoring, Evaluation, and Control, Erwin Dimas, explained that the government is aiming to implement MRPN by integrating internal management risk within institutions into a cross-sector risk management system.

He emphasized that MRPN does not merely revolve around programs and projects at the national level, as it also aims to ensure successful development in rural areas.

Dimas underlined that results obtained from risk management measures will be used as a reference to evaluate the performance of all institutions, both at the national and regional levels.

The MRPN Committee comprises Minister Monoarfa as its chairperson; finance minister as deputy chairperson; coordinating ministers as steering members; state-owned enterprises minister; law and human rights minister; village, development of underdeveloped regions and transmigration minister; and state apparatus and bureaucratic reform minister.

In the committee, head of the Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) serves as a cross-sector internal supervisor.

During Tuesday's meeting, the committee agreed to implement MRPN by initially focusing on several issues, including the need to ramp up national food production, alleviate poverty, handle childhood stunting, conduct energy transition, carry out tourism development, and conduct waste management.
