Jakarta (ANTARA) - Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto presented a grand plan devised with his running mate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, dubbed the National Transformation Strategy, in the fifth debate of the 2024 presidential election in Jakarta on Sunday.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Prabowo-Gibran has formulated a grand plan called the National Transformation Strategy," he remarked in his opening speech for the debate organized by the General Elections Commission (KPU) at the Jakarta Convention Center.

Prabowo expressed optimism about the strategy being instrumental in elevating the living quality and standards of the people of Indonesia, resulting in a more prosperous Indonesian nation.

The presidential candidate then explained that one way to implement the grand strategy is to ensure adequate nutrition supply to all Indonesian children, including those still in their mothers' wombs.

Prabowo said he believes that the strategy would help Indonesia suppress its maternal mortality rate and alleviate childhood stunting cases.

He emphasized that if he is elected as the Indonesian President, the government will implement the grand strategy with the aim of boosting Indonesia's economic growth and eliminating extreme poverty.

"This strategy will increase the rate of our economic growth by 1.5 to 2.5, at the very least," he pointed out.

After the first and second debates that took place on December 12 and December 23 last year and the third and fourth debates held on January 7 and January 21, 2024, the KPU organized the final debate on February 4.

Sunday's theme raised the themes of education, health, manpower, culture, information technology, social welfare, and inclusion.

Previously, the KPU determined three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates and their serial numbers, namely the pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar with serial number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka with number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD with number 3.

The KPU has also scheduled the campaign period from November 28, 2023, to February 10, 2024, with the voting day on February 14, 2024.
