Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin visited the new building of the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Monday, the third day of his working visit to the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to a statement released by the Vice Presidential Secretariat here, the embassy in Abu Dhabi is located on Al Yaqout Street, Embassies district, Plot 42, Sector W59-02.

The new building reflects the positive results of Indonesia's diplomacy with the UAE.

"This close relationship is a result of our diplomacy that has succeeded in building friendship and peace in the world," he said.

In addition to communicating with officials and staff at the embassy, the Vice President also reviewed the service areas at the building.

He visited the consular services room, the overseas election committee (PPLN) room, and the Indonesian migrant workers' shelter room.

He advised that the new building be used as well as possible to serve Indonesians in the UAE.

The VP said that the new building stands on an area of 5,574.18 square meters, with the building area measuring 5,177.51 square meters.

The new embassy building houses four areas: reception, consular services, office, and Wisma Duta Besar.

President Joko Widodo and UAE President Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) launched the construction of the building on January 12, 2020. At the time, Al Nahyan was the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The construction was completed in August 2022, after which the building was furnished and inaugurated in November 2022.

The building is located strategically, not far from President Joko Widodo Street, the US Embassy, the Turkish Embassy, and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
