"Apart from being a fruit plantation center with various local and other fruits, a floral garden will be developed here. Hence, Sukomulyo region will have many ornamental plants," OIKN's Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources Myrna Asnawati Safitri stated here on Thursday (Feb 22).
Safitri remarked that the authority decided to develop the park in Sukomulyo as the village had been a fruit plantation center before the presence of palm plantations.
The revitalization of Sukomulyo Village as a plantation center is also in accordance with the OIKN regulation mandating the development of food crop centers to supply staple foods, fruits, and other plants.
"Through the park development, we want to show residents the diversity of fruits in Nusantara, so they, especially the younger generation, will know more and grow fond of fruits," Safitri explained.
The deputy explained that the agro-techno-edupark in Sukomulyo has huge potential to be a fruit promotion center for its easy access from major roads in the region.
"The land contour here is attractive for its hills and valleys, and the panoramic view here is also beautiful. It is an oasis for the environment and the agro-based tourism attraction," she remarked.
The decision to designate Sukomulyo as the fruit and floral plants center was reached following discussion with residents since 2023, the official noted.
Safitri also commended ANTARA News Agency that contributed to the development of one hectare of the park area.
"Since the discussion began last year, the idea continues flowing, and many parties, including ANTARA News Agency, have shown their support to the development of a fruit and floral garden," she remarked.
