Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir affirmed that various events can be held at the Pertamina Youth Center (GGM) in Majalengka, West Java, to support the local economic growth.

"This is a strategic place, close to the toll road and the airport," Thohir noted in his official statement received here on Friday.

The minister explained that GGM can be used for several sports, educational, and cultural festivals. GGM can also be a place for discussing ideas, he added.

Thohir revealed that the local government is looking forward to building the Kertajati area as a tourist destination in West Java.

According to the minister, the tourism sector can contribute to local economic development, as the locals can feel the economic impact.

"We ensure that economic growth continues, both in Majalengka and West Java," Thohir remarked.

Meanwhile, President Director of the state oil and gas company Pertamina Nicke Widyawati stated that GGM Pertamina in Majalengka is her company's commitment to encouraging the quality of Indonesia's young generation in pursuit of a brilliant future.

"GGM Pertamina Majalengka is built with complete facilities, and we dedicate it to the young generation, including athletes and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) players, who are the backbone of the nation's future," she stated.

She explained that construction for GGM Pertamina in Majelengka began on July 14, 2023, with a building area of 3,761 square meters.

The facility includes 800 seats for the public, 50 VIP seats, and six seats for disabilities.

"This new building is expected to encourage the improvement of athlete achievements, both at the national and world levels," Widyawati remarked.

The sports facilities and infrastructure in GGM Pertamina include a football field, basketball court, volleyball court, sepak takraw court, badminton court, pencak silat martial arts, and wall climbing facilities.
