"Music digitalization provides opportunities for East Kalimantan musicians to be able to publish or produce without having to go to Jakarta," the ministry's Director of Music, Film, and Animation, Mohammad Amin, remarked here on Saturday.
Amin noted that the music recording can be sent digitally by using increasingly sophisticated technology.
He explained that through the application of the technology, vocal recordings can be done in East Kalimantan, but the process of mastering music can be carried out in Jakarta, as the production there is more qualified.
Amin stated that music production should no longer be centralized in Jakarta but can be done from anywhere.
Hence, he emphasized that music production should be accompanied by marketing through digital platforms where the music can be distributed evenly.
"East Kalimantan, as the main buffer of the Nusantara Capital City, as Mr. President sees it, will cause an impact, considering that there will be a lot of public attention to the region," he stated.
He underscored the need for East Kalimantan's musicians to learn marketing skills in the music industry, such as the right time to upload content on YouTube and other digital media platforms.
"Music digitization includes production and marketing. Hence, artists should not only focus on their crafts but also strengthen promotion," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, House member Hetifah Sjaifudian explained that the potential of music digitalization in East Kalimantan is being explored to provide motivation and opportunities for collaboration with East Kalimantan's musicians as well as to pay heed to their aspirations.
"Hopefully, a collaboration will be formed, and we can respond to the specific inputs," she stated.
