Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Park and Forest Office (Distamhut) of DKI Jakarta province has urged residents visiting parks and city forests ahead of breaking fast during Ramadan to maintain cleanliness in the areas by not throwing rubbish carelessly.

"During this Ramadan, let us work together to continue protecting our nature. God willing, nature will also protect us," head of the Park and Forest Office of DKI Jakarta province, Bayu Meghantara, said when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to Meghantara, while waiting to break their fast, people can take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the views and fresh air at parks and city forests in Jakarta, which operate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time.

Further, the Park and Forest Office of DKI Jakarta has deployed personnel to maintain cleanliness and order at parks.

He said that some parks are open, while others are closed.

The office, together with the Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and regional officials, is continuously monitoring the open parks.

"After 6 p.m. local time, there are people still gathering; there are open and closed parks. Like Suropati Park, which is an open park; we guard things like this together with Satpol PP and regional officials," he informed.

Earlier, the Jakarta Public Order Agency stepped up supervision and control over entertainment and recreation places for the holy months of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah/2024 AD.

"We will routinely carry out the activity for 33 days starting March 11 to April 12 (2024) in five administrative city areas," the head of supervision and control of business places at Satpol PP, Eko Saptono, said in Jakarta on Monday.

The supervision refers to Governor Regulation Number 18 of 2018 concerning the implementation of tourism businesses.

It also refers to a circular letter issued by head of the DKI Jakarta Province Tourism and Creative Economy Service regarding the Implementation of Tourism Businesses during the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah/2024 AD.
