"Efforts to reduce the stunting rate continue to be carried out through various activities, including through posyandus and the provision of blood supplements," acting governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, informed here on Friday.
On Friday, he reviewed an integrated stunting reduction intervention at a child-friendly integrated public space (RPTRA) in Cilincing, North Jakarta.
On that occasion, he said that his side is paying attention to the fulfillment of a nutritious food and consumption pattern that is based on the "Diverse, Nutritionally Balanced, and Safe (B2SA)" principle.
Hartono explained that the consumption pattern includes staple foods, side dishes, vegetables, fruits, and animal proteins that need to be introduced to pregnant women.
The Jakarta administration is expecting to reduce the stunting rate with the help of the B2SA meal pattern.
Hartono said that stunting needs to be prevented to support the optimal growth of the next generation.
"And that's what the Jakarta provincial government is targeting," he added.
During the activity on Friday, he also reviewed special posyandus for toddlers, the elderly, and an integrated mentored health post (posbindu), as well as the supplementary feeding of toddlers whose health has been checked medically.
He also invited all relevant stakeholders to work together to deal with stunting in Jakarta.
According to him, Jakartan children have the right to grow and develop well so that they can become active, healthy, productive, and useful individuals who can support the nation's progress.
Therefore, he urged mothers to routinely take their children to the nearest posyandu for health checks and the regular monitoring of their growth and development.
